FAQ

  • A consultation is a brief 10-15 minute scheduled phone call used to gather information about you and your concerns so we can see if we’d be a good fit together. This time allows me to answer any questions you may have about therapy or my approach, scheduling, insurance coverage and/or session fees. If we decide to get started, I next will send you my consent forms and we will reserve a reoccurring time slot to begin our work together.

  • Therapy can be beneficial to many different people for many different reasons, meaning there is no “wrong” reason to begin therapy. If you are experiencing any dissatisfaction in your life or relationships, are wanting change or are experiencing any feelings of emotional “numbness,” feeling lost, confused, sad, stressed, insecure, overwhelmed, stuck or lonely, these might all be reasons to seek support.

  • I work with individuals ages 16+. Individuals of all cultural, ethnic, religious, political, sexual and gender backgrounds and identities are welcome.

I especially recognize the importance of men’s mental health and encourage males seeking mental health support to reach out.

No one should experience life’s challenges alone.

At this time I am only licensed to work with individuals who are located in New York State.

  • The decision to begin therapy can cause some initial feelings of unease or anxiety as it is a new experience and relationship. These feelings typically dissipate after the initial few sessions that are used to establish our relationship and set goals together. Sessions are most effectively held on a weekly basis and are reserved just for you on a reoccurring time slot.

Each person and each session is unique. I consider myself a “passenger” and you the driver of your sessions as you know yourself the best. While I encourage everyone to speak freely in sessions as we work alongside one another, I offer guidance with curious, reflective questioning drawing from psychodynamic, CBT, strengths based and attachment frameworks. I will never tell you what to do and may not have answers to all of your concerns, but you can expect me to listen carefully and hold a compassionate space where we will work collaboratively to uncover the root of your emotional suffering. By identifying patterns that are getting in the way of satisfying relationships, understanding early attachment relationships and unresolved trauma wounds and making sense of triggers and emotional responses you will develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences. Through insight and with refined perspective, you will be able to experience greater compassion for yourself and others, ultimately allowing you to achieve greater personal and interpersonal fulfillment.

  • Each therapy session is approximately 45-55 minutes and is most effective on a weekly basis. Long-term change requires courage, commitment and patience and the length of treatment can vary from person to person depending on goals, challenges and preference. Some individuals may meet with me for several months while others may decide to continue working together for several years as they find it beneficial to do so. I encourage discussing this together and planning for ending sessions when we feel it is time to do so.

  • Making the decision to invest in yourself and taking the responsibility of your healing can offer invaluable benefits. If you would like to get started, schedule a consultation call or have any questions you can email me directly at ag7304@nyu.edu
